eTexts - electronic or digital textbooks - are used for most classes at Berkeley, and are included with your tuition and fees. Most (but not all *) are under the eText link in the left-hand menu of your course in Canvas, and open in a new tab called VitalSource Bookshelf. Then click Read Now on the eText cover picture and the Table of Contents list should be on the left. In the top right of that left-hand menu, click on the 3 dots (...) for More Book Options, then click on Citation. It opens a box with the e-Text citation in it. It defaults to MLA format, so pick the citation style (APA or MLA) that your professor requires, then the reference will be formatted that way. See the screenshots below showing where to find this.

* NOTEIf your etext isn't listed in the left Canvas menu, or it doesn't look like this, it might not be in VitalSource Bookshelf - Cengage & Pearson texts use a different software. If your text doesn't show a link to get a citation anywhere, you can create your own, or ask your instructor how they would like you to cite it, or see if they cited it in your Syllabus under Required Resources, and copy that reference. Check out the links below to see how to create a citation for an eBook in APA or MLA format, and use it for your online textbook.
