Grammarly is a digital writing assistant that makes suggestions for improving your writing. Students can use the free version of Grammarly to help them edit their grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.

Students can get the free Grammarly for Students version:

Students can also get apps to work in different browsers, writing apps, and cell phones (Chrome, Windows; Word, Google Docs; iPhones, Android phones, etc) to help with writing in different spaces:

Suppose you're writing a paper or discussion board post. In that case, you can upload it or paste it into the editor in Grammarly and see what suggestions it makes to fix typos, spelling errors, & grammar mistakes and accept the changes that it suggests if they sound better. Here's a demo doc:

Also remember that the CAS Writing tutors at Berkeley College are an important resource for all students who need guidance with writing issues. Students can go into the CAS on any campus or have an online visit with CAS. You can schedule writing help in TutorTrac.

NOTE: For students who already have an account with the Berkeley version of Grammarly, the Berkeley version will expire on 1/25/23, so you may need to create a free account if it stops working.
