APA style was created by the American Psychological Association, which is what APA stands for. It is a set of rules for publications, including student research papers, commonly used in social sciences. It was created in 1929 as a way to help make scientific papers easier for audiences to read. It includes rules on how to format your papers, in-text citations, and bibliographies (reference list). APA updated its style manual in the fall of 2019, the 7th Edition.
