Proctored exams are a critical part of all online courses. Berkeley College Online® uses ProctorU student authentication services. ProctorU is software used for Identity Verification of students taking online courses, to make sure the registered student is the one completing the assignment or test.*
How it Works:
ProctorU Auto is an online proctoring service that allows you to take your exam on a PC or MAC computer from the comfort of your home. ProctorU's Auto automated service is available 24/7. You cannot use ProctorU on a mobile device.
But first you will need a ProctorU account and the ProctorU Chrome extension installed on your desktop or laptop for the program to work properly. Students should view the ProctorU Test-Taker Walkthrough video in advance of trying to taking an exam. Additionally, students should view the Instructions for how to download the Chrome extension, create a ProctorU account and use ProctorU, which must be set up and opened before going to the test. You must be in a quiet, well-lit area, and have a photo ID with you. Please see the list below this video to make sure you have everything you need.
Before you take a test monitored by ProctorU, you need all these items, and a quiet place to take the exam where you won't be interrupted or disturbed. You may not talk to anyone else by any means during the exam session.
- Broadband internet connection
- Webcam (internal or external)
- Windows or Mac Operating System
- Chrome browser and extension installed
- Government-issued photo ID
* It can also be used for students who need an exam proctored for another reason, such as for disability accommodations.
