There are three ways to embed (insert) images into a Canvas Discussion Board: (a) from a link to an online image; (b) by selecting an image from your Canvas files; (c) by searching and selecting from Flickr.  If you would like to upload an image from your computer, you must first add the image to your Files in Canvas.

  • Log into Canvas and access the discussion board week for which you need to post the image.
  • Hit reply to the thread you would like to reply to.
  • Click on the image icon  in the toolbar.

The Insert/Edit Image window will open. You can embed images: via link to an online image, by uploading to your Canvas files or by selecting from Flickr.

  • From an online link: Paste the link to the image into the URL box.  Describe the image in the Alt Text box and click Update to insert the image into your reply box.

  • Select an image from My Files: Select Canvas as the Image Source in the Insert/Edit Image box. Click on the image you would like to insert (such as the Library.jpg image below). Describe the image in the Alt Text box and click Update to insert the image into your reply box.

  • Insert an image from Flickr: Select Flickr as the Image Source in the Insert/Edit Image box. Type in a term that describes the type of image you would like to find (Below we searched for Library). Select the image you'd like to use and describe it in the Alt Text box and click Update to insert the image into your reply box.

Use the alignment buttons in the text box editor to move your picture around.  Complete your post by typing in the text box and describing the image.

Click the Post Reply button to upload the image to your post.
