You can take a screenshot of your computer using the "PrtScrn" button on the top of your keyboard.  Set up the programs on your screen the way you’d like them to appear in the screenshot and then hit the "PrtScrn" button.  Then you can open any image editing software such as Paint or even Microsoft Word – right click and select “Paste” or hit the buttons Ctrl + V.  Your screenshot should appear and you can save that document.  If you need to use that screenshot as a picture somewhere, use Microsoft Paint so you can save it as a .jpg file which is commonly used image file.

Many computers also have built in screenshot software. To select a capture of a specific screen area on a PC, you can use the software "Snipping Tool".  Click on your computer’s “Start” button - type “Snipping Tool” into the search bar – click on “Snipping Tool” to activate the program.  Once the screen turns gray and the tool box pops up, select the area you’d like to create a capture of the area you’d like to save.  In the new window the pops up, click the disk to save your image.  You have now saved a picture of the screen area you selected.

On a Mac computer, you can use the buttons Command, Shift and 3 for a full screen capture.  To select a part of the screen, you can use Command, Shift and 4.  You can also use the Grab Utility available in Applications/Utilities.  See the videos for steps on using the Grab Utility and Snipping Tool.
