You can find short stories in Ebook Central by searching for the title of the short story, the author's name, "short stories", or other relevant search terms.  For step-by-step directions for how to find short stories in eBook Central, please see below.

  1. From Engage, click on the tile for the Library.  On the Library homepage, click on the databases icon.  Click on E in the A to Z list, then click on the link for Ebook Central.

  1. Type your search terms into the text box at the top of the page.  You can try searching for the title of the work, the author's name, or even just "short stories".  You can also try changing and combining keywords, e.g.:

  • "short stories" and British

  • "short story collection"

  • "short story anthology".

NOTE: If you are looking for collections of short stories, try clicking on Advanced Search and enter "short stories" into the Title text box.   This will make sure that all of the search results have "short stories" in their title.

  1. Browse the results and click on the title of a work so you can get more information, such as the table of contents.  NOTE: If your search did not retrieve the results you wanted, try changing your keywords or consult with a librarian.

  1. To limit the results to books that are available immediately, check the box under Book Status on the left that says "Owned and subscribed to by my library".

5.  You can open the book by clicking on the Read Online button on the left or by clicking on any of the links under the Table of Contents.
